Start of Classes!
While excitement loomed at moving in and getting settled, I was both dreading and looking forward to the start of classes. I was excited to meet my professors, (especially to start the classes for my major, but those unfortunately wouldn't be until the next day) but also dreading the mountain of homework that was sure to follow! Luckily I had mapped out where my classes before head, I was dead set not to have to pull out my map! My classes were not difficult to find at all, and my advice to everyone is try to arrive at least 5 minutes beforehand, it's always good to have that time to chill and get ready for class to start. By far my favorite class was that of PCC 105 and the corresponding lab that goes with it. (PCC 105 is the introductory course for all students wishing to pursue a degree in Polymer and Color Chemistry) Dr. Shamey is the professor for the class and Dr. Beck is the professor for the lab period. They are both wonderful teachers, very enthusiastic about the course and material, so I can already tell this year is going to be great!

The Big Day-Move in!
Today was the big day, the day I officially moved in to my dorm at North Carolina State University. Me, my mom, dad, and twin sister spent all of yesterday driving up (11 hour drive from my hometown of Melbourne, FL to Raleigh) and spent the last bit of the night buying last minute stuff that we had forgotten. I promise you we must have gone to target almost a thousand times those two days! Since I am part of the Park Scholarship program, I was able to move in early on the 12th instead of the 15th with everyone else because the next day we were heading off for our freshman retreat. Move in started at 12 and only lasted untill 4 so when we got over to my dorm area we immediatly started to unpack. Fortunately we were able to get some of my bigger items up to the second floor before the building lost power. Not having the elevator made things difficult, but with 4 people it wasn't too bad. The hardest thing of the day was actually lofting my bed up, we had thought it would be like a sliding and lock system, but actually it was more a hook thing where you hooked it in at the height you wanted it to be. It was really fustrating because the bed hooks are really held tight and so we had to push and pull for almost an hour to get the bed lofted up, a very intense workout! After the hard work of lofting the bed up the rest was a breeze, just decorating my room with lovely posters and paintings and making my bed with my new sheets and quilt. That evening I had a welcome dinner with my fellow park scholars, allowing us to meet some of the faculty and other important people of the program. After the dinner I met up with my parents to head over back to the hotel, I decided it would be easier for me to stay with them so that they could drop me off in the morning where we were going to leave for the retreat. Overall it was a pretty exciting day, and while I am sad to leave my family for a while, I am excited about starting my life as a member of the wolfpack family!
